Atenas – Santorini y tour clásico de 4 días con Meteora
Day 1. Arrival in Athens
Upon arrival at Athens International Airport, you will be met with our driver and transferred to your hotel, where our representative will be waiting to deliver the envelope with all necessary documents. Balance of the day at leisure. If time permits, depending on your arrival time to Athens, you may enjoy the optional experience. Accommodation in Athens
Day 2. Athens city tour with museum
Breakfast at your hotel and pick up in the morning, at the indicated time for a half day tour of the city of Athens, that includes a guided panoramic tour of the city and visit of the Acropolis and the museum of Acropolis . Pick up from your hotel and return to your hotel.
Duration more or less 4,5 hours.
We will do a panoramic tour of the main avenues of Athens, highlighting Panepistimiou Avenue (University). We will pass through Syntagma Square, the Parliament, the monument to the unknown soldier that we will see next to the colorful uniforms of the Evzones guards outside the Royal Palace. We continue to the Kalimarmaro Stadium, site of the first Olympic Games of the Modern Age (1896). Then we will move to the sacred rock of the Acropolis is a pilgrimage to the cradle of Western civilization. Among its many attractions, we will visit the Theater of Herodes Atticus, the Propylaea, the Parthenon temple, the Erechtheion temple or Temple of the Caryatids and the small Temple of Nike. A stop at the panoramic tower of the Acropolis will help us explain everything that we can see from here, such as the eight hills of Athens(Lycabettus, Pnix, Filopapou, etc.) as well as the city of Athens. We will observe the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Arch of Hadrian, the Parliament, the Zappion, etc… Later on, a new stop to contemplate the ancient theater of Dionysus and we continue with the visit of the famous Acropolis Museum. If you wish, when the tour ends you can stay walking through the picturesque streets of the Plaka neighborhood and return to the hotel on your own. Rest of the day free and accommodation.
Day 3. Athens- Santorini
Early breakfast and departure transfer to Athens Port “Piraeus” to embark on the ferry for Santorini Island. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Santorini.
Day 4. Santorini
Free days on the volcanic island of Santorini known for the unique sunset. In its capital called Fira, attached to the cliff and accessible by cable car or donkey, you can admire the whitewashed houses, the alleys, the outdoor cafes and the famous sunset. Santorini is a spectacular stopover for dozens of tourist vacation cruises and hundreds of sailboats that land in its small coves, at the foot of its steep slopes, in the middle of the natural anchorage formed by the sunken caldera of the ancient volcano. The multitude of visitors from all over the world has developed a free and international atmosphere.
Due to its volcanic soil the island is very fertile. For that reason, the quality of Santorini’s agricultural products is well known throughout the world. One of the specialties of the island is wine. The vines are arranged in a way that can only be seen in Santorini, their branches are placed in a way that makes them look like a basket. In this way they are protected from strong winds. Other agricultural products in which Santorini has specialized are: fava, a similar vegetable but smaller than a pea; a type of cherry tomato that only grows in Santorini and the «Kapari», a pea-sized vegetable used in the famous Greek salad. The island of Santorini also produces a cheese made from goat’s milk called «chloro». Overnight stay in Santorini. Overnight stay in Santorini.
Day 5. Santorini- Athens
Enjoy your last few morning hours on Santorini Island. According to ferry schedule, transfer to the port of Santorini to embark on the ferry for Athens. Upon arrival at Piraeus port, transfer to the hotel in Athens. Balance of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Athens.
Day 6. Athens – Olympia
After breakfast, pick up from hotel for your 4day Classical Greece tour to explore the glory of ancient Greece with and visit five UNESCO’S world heritage sites. We depart from Athens for the Corinth canalv(short stop). After our short stop at Corinth, we drive to Epidaurus and visit the Ancient theatre, world famous for its outstanding acoustics. We then proceed to Nauplia (short stop) and through the plain of Argos, we arrive to Mycenae, where we visit its archaeological site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. In the afternoon (optional stop for souvenirs), we depart for Olympia, the birth place of the Olympic Games. Overnight stay in Olympia and dinner.
Day 7. Olympia – Delphi
We start our day with a visit to the Olympia archaeological site with the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic flame, the Stadium and the archaeological Museum. After Olympia, we depart via Patras (short stop) to Rion, cross the Corinthian bay by the bridge to Antirion. Pass by the city of Nafpaktos and from there on, along the coastal road to Delphi, known in ancient times as the navel of the world. In the afternoon, we visit the picturesque mountain village of Arachova.Overnight stay in Delphi and dinner.
Day 8. Delphi – Kalambaka (Meteora)
In the morning, we visit the archaeological site and the Museum of Delphi. After our navigation through the center of earth and universe for Ancient Greeks, Delphi, we depart for Kalambaka, by crossing the Thessalian plain in Central Greece through the cities of Lamia (short stop) and Trikala. Kalambaka is a small town built at the foot of the majestic Meteora grey rocks, just below the Monasteries. Overnight stay in Kalambaka and dinner.
Day 9. Meteora- Athens
Today, we depart in the morning for nearby Meteora on a tour of the cliff-top monasteries by visiting two different Byzantine Monasteries, built on top of rock towers and offering fantastic views over the plain. Meteora is included on the UNESCO world heritage monument list. The monasteries are perched on top of towers of sandstone, which provided the monks with totally inaccessible retreats for centuries. Meteora is considered one of the most beautiful areas of Greek mainland and its cluster of monasteries is one of the country’s most unique attractions. We return to Athens passing by the heroic monument of Leonidas, the King of Sparta in Thermopylae (short stop for photos). The tour returns to Athens late in the afternoon.
NOTE: Appropriate dress is required to visit the Monasteries. For the ladies, long skirts with covered shoulders and long trousers for the gentlemen.
Day 10. Departure from Athens
Breakfast at the hotel, morning at leisure for your last-minute shopping or strolling down the streets of Athens. Depending on your international departure flight, transfer to Athens International Airport.
